SL Forum: Enhance Your game experience
October 6th, 2010
Avatars United was originally purchased by Linden Lab to bring more social networking opportunities to Second Life. Avatars United’s purpose was to make it faster and easier to find friends, create communities, and allow in-world residents and friends outside the game to come together and share the splendor of SL.
Linden Lab recently announced that they will be closing Avatars United by September 29, 2010. They decided to shut it down to minimize the confusion between Avatars United and Second Life brands and to focus social technology solely on Second Life instead.
Many residents are disappointed to see Avatars Online go since it was their main source of sharing information with a group or community, finding new friends and keeping in touch with friends when not playing Second Life. If you’re one of these residents and are looking for an alternative place to hang out then go here: Second Life forum.
This forum is a friendly community of gamers that come together to
- Discuss Second Life
- Socialize
- Meet new people
- Get SL help
- Share ideas
- Share Second Life guides, tips, and cheats to further enhance their SL experience

Protecting Your Account in Second Life
November 6th, 2008
While the concept of protecting your Second Life account seems rather obvious, there are all manner of players who still make mistakes when it comes to protecting their SL account. Naturally, the advice that you hear about not sharing an account is just common sense and you hear about this proper procedure all the time. But even discussing the name of your account can cause all manner of difficulties, as there are individuals who are skilled at hacking passwords as well as user accounts.
By making sure that you do not discuss the name of your SL account, you can reduce the chances of anyone hacking into your player account. In addition, taking the time to come up with a clever and unique account name can help to avoid having hackers simply guess the name of your Second Life account. This is a common tactic and it involves simply guessing at a lot of popular names that might be used as the username for a Second Life account. It is surprisingly effective, as many players choose pop-culture references or simple names to give to their accounts.
Keeping discussion of your SL account and any difficulty you may be having to a minimum is another good way to avoid having any problems. As soon as trouble occurs, be sure to report any problems to administrators and look into changing your Second Life account password on a regular basis. Simply by constantly changing the password, you can eliminate the ability for most individuals to get in.

How to Protect Your Second Life Account
August 23rd, 2008
In a perfect world, you wouldn’t have to worry about someone hacking into your SL account, but the fact of the matter is, these problems do occur and it is best to be prepared. No one likes being taken advantage of and when you have a game that is this popular, there is an element that is drawn into the game that likes to ruin it for others. There are some great and easy ways that anyone can protect their Second Life account, to make sure that this does not happen.
First, it is important to remember that you should never share your Second Life account information with anyone else. This is particularly true with user names, passwords and even credit card information. It is best never to answer anyone that requests your SL account password and to report them if they do. Not even the support team in the game will ask for this information, so keep it safe.
You may also want to make sure that you are running a firewall, antivirus software and spyware software when you play this game. This is an easy way to protect your Second Life account from hackers as well as your computer.
No one likes to think that they are at risk, but the fact remains that there are hackers out there that like to take advantage of those that don’t know any better. Take these steps to secure your SL account and then you shouldn’t have to worry about losing any of your information.
