Starting you own Second Life Business

March 17th, 2010

In October 2008 the virtual world met the real world. IBM’s Academy of Technology held their World Conference in the virtual world at a fraction of the cost of a real world conference.

IBM estimated that the Second Life meeting saved them a total of $320,000. Over 200 people worldwide attended. They invested about $80,000 to have the meeting in the virtual world and saved over $250, 000 in travel and venue costs. Since employees could go back to work immediately after the meeting, they were able to save over $150,000 in productivity gain.

Second Life Building

Second Life is the world of adventure, innovation, and profit with its endless opportunities. You can build your dream house on a tropical island and choose any career you wish. You can even start your own Second life business and make real money. You can become a landlord, dancer, writer, architect, or anything else you want to be.

If you are thinking of starting your own Second life business or even expand an existing business, like in the real world, don’t venture out alone. I suggest using SL Guides to help you along:

Your Second Life Game

October 27th, 2008

The SL game is more like a real life simulator rather than a game, although it has many game features. Unlike real life, you can fly and even teleport from place to place. There’s also a lot of things you can in the game that imitate real life, such as go into shops, sell stuff for money (called Linden dollars), and even develop a relationship with another player, or resident. When real life just isn’t what you hoped it was, play a little SL or Teen Second Life for those under 18.

One of the coolest features of Second Life is scripting. You can actually use Linden Scripting Language to make scripts which let your objects do things by themselves, like robots. There’s also an Second Life avatar editor which lets you modify how you look as much as you want. You can even get skins for various parts of your game like your avatar or your property. Some of these things cost Linden dollars, which you can either get in the game or purchase from various websites.

A SL game like this might seem expensive, but an account is actually free and the game itself is free to download. You won’t even need to worry about finding Second Life cheats for this game because just about everything is user made, and you can make stuff too! At the end of the day when you’ve set up a cool home for yourself in the game, take a screenshot. Remind yourself that when things seem a little stressful, you’ve got a Second Life.
