7 Ways To Make Money In Second Life

Today we’ll be discussing 7 ways to make money in Second Life. This does not include all the ways to make a living in the virtual world but it does cover some of the most basic methods. This is also not a list of the best Second Life Linden making methods but rather a breakdown on some of the better known ways and whether or not they are worth your time.
We’ll start from the one with the highest SL money making potential and end with the one that has the least potential
- Small SL Business
Requirements: Entrepreneur skills and a lot of creativity
Earning Potential: This ranges from low to very high incomes
Why: People who make a good living in SL are usually business owners - Retail Estate
Requirements: Money to buy land
Earning Potential: Low to high. Sometimes you may find yourself in the negative
Why: Real Estate is risky. You’ll have to invest a lot of money and may sometimes not be able to get all your property rented out - Get paid for your Skills/Talents
Requirements: Programming, Teaching, Designing. Basically anything you’re good at
Earning Potential: In the L$1000 range depending on your skill
Why: People don’t generally pay much in SL unless you can find a job for a larger, established company - Musician
Requirements: Any musical Talent
Earning Potential: About L$500 – L$2000 per performance
Why: This job depends largely on tips. The more people like your performances the more you’re likely to make - Get a Job
Requirements: Time
Earning Potential: L$50 – $L500 per hour
Why: You can do basically any time of work in Second Life. They pay is not nearly what we see in the real world but neither are the job requirements - Enter Contest
Requirements: Depends on the type of contest
Earning Potential: Low for common contests. High for one-time contests sponsored by large companies
Why: This is a fun way to make money. Payouts will reflect on the type of contest and how well you do - Camping
Requirements: None
Earning Potential: L$1 every 10 minutes
Why: You hang out at a specific place to make it seem more popular and to attract people. Very low payouts
