August 23rd, 2008
In a perfect world, you wouldn’t have to worry about someone hacking into your Second Life account, but the fact of the matter is, these problems do occur and it is best to be prepared. No one likes being taken advantage of and when you have a game that is this popular, there is an element that is drawn into the game that likes to ruin it for others. There are some great and easy ways that anyone can protect their SL account, to make sure that this does not happen.
First, it is important to remember that you should never share your Second Life account information with anyone else. This is particularly true with user names, passwords and even credit card information. It is best never to answer anyone that requests your SL account password and to report them if they do. Not even the support team in the game will ask for this information, so keep it safe.
You may also want to make sure that you are running a firewall, antivirus software and spyware software when you play this game. This is an easy way to protect your Second Life account from hackers as well as your computer.
No one likes to think that they are at risk, but the fact remains that there are hackers out there that like to take advantage of those that don’t know any better. Take these steps to secure your SL account and then you shouldn’t have to worry about losing any of your information.
