What is Teen Second Life?

November 2nd, 2008

If you’ve ever played SL, then you probably have a good idea of what Teen Second Life is. If not, you might be a little curious as to what kind of game would be called a “second life.” Sometimes it’s nice to see what life would be like if you could do cool things, like fly or own a house where you arrange the furniture. That’s where Teen Second Life comes in for anyone between 13 and 17.

The age restriction is to keep teens safe from potential online dangers as well as the adult content that can be found in Second Life. Proof of age is required, generally by registering with a valid PayPal account that can also be used to upgrade the account from the free basic. A paid Second Life account will have more features than the basic one.

Teen Second Life has a lot of the same gameplay as the regular SL with minor exceptions. All of the adult content that you’d find in the regular game has been removed from the SL teen version. Also the prices of in-game objects in Teen Second Life are lower than the original game because the average income of the players is different. Teens can still purchase SL Linden Dollars, or game money, with real money from a selection of different websites. Anything a player has in Teen Second Life will automatically be transferred with their account to Second Life when they turn 18.
